About the author

My name is Jorge Luis Pérez Armijos. I have a master's degree in Comparative Literature & Literary Theory from the University of Barcelona. My area of studies was the laughable— particularly the bergsonian mechanisms of laughter.

I've always been impressed by the disconnect there is in between literature and gaming. Since I like comparativism and gaming so much, I thought it would be good to analyse games from within literature, and to review games through this perspective. To be clear: I think some games are works of art and they, therefore, may be subjected to the same scrutiny that other types of art are subjected to. Comparative literature already goes beyond what is written when it draws its comparisons: comparativism often faces-off artistic productions that come from different centuries and cultures; games, however, are usually not (yet) seen as works of art. But, like what is happening now with comics, I'm sure this will change eventually, and blogs with articles like these are just the first of many to come.

In addition to my academic background, I continue to publish reviews about baroque, classic & romantic music recitals, a continuation of my time in Barcelona, where through the Palau, l'Auditori, the Teatre Lliure and others I was exposed to some of the best musicians that have graced our stages. I took a bit of piano in my youth, but I'm afraid that after a good decade of learning not much stuck– turns out, the only keyboard that I was ever halfway decent with was the one with that had a screen attached to it.

Me llamo Jorge Luis Pérez Armijos.
